Led by multi-reed virtuoso, Adam Simmons, this trio, along with bassist Howard Cairns and drummer Anthony Baker, is another facet of Simmons’ music, which includes his solo project, quartet, and the renowned Adam Simmons Toy Band. Presenting largely new material, this trio sees Adam focusing solely on alto saxophone, working within self-imposed limitations (alto saxophone only) in order to more fully explore the sonic possibilities – similar to the Japanese art of folding paper, working from a simple starting point with a square piece of paper to create pieces of great complexity and beauty.

Peter Knight’s Fish Boast of Fishing

Australian trumpeter-composer Peter Knight is a multidisciplinary musician who has gained wide acclaim for his eclectic approach, which integrates jazz, world music and experimental traditions. Well known to Australian music-audiences, he is the leader of several of his own projects and appears as a soloist in a wide range of settings. He also composes for theatre and film and has created sound installations. Peter joins Listen/Hear Collective with a unique project 'Fish Boast of Fishing' which brings together some of Australia's leading exponents of improvised, experimental and 'new' music in a work that explores the point where composition and improvisation intersect.
